Responsibilities

As an Acquisitions Editor, you will:

  • Identify Trends: Research and analyze trends in Information Technology and identify topics that resonate with our audience.
  • Author Recruitment: Source and build relationships with potential authors, including IT professionals, industry experts, and educators.
  • Proposal Development: Work with prospective authors to develop detailed book proposals, including outlines, chapter breakdowns, and target audience analysis.
  • Market Research: Conduct competitive analysis and assess the potential market for proposed titles.
  • Editorial Oversight: Collaborate with authors to refine content, ensuring it aligns with Sparkrena’s standards and audience needs.
  • Contract Management: Negotiate and manage author contracts, including royalties and project timelines.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the editorial, production, marketing, and sales teams to bring new titles to market successfully.
  • Project Management: Track multiple projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Networking: Represent Sparkrena at industry events, conferences, and online communities to build relationships and enhance the brand's visibility.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Educational Background: A degree in Publishing, English, Communications, or a related field; technical knowledge in IT is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in acquisitions, editorial, or related roles within the publishing industry.
  • Passion for IT: Strong interest in Information Technology trends, tools, and industry advancements.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to build relationships with authors and internal teams.
  • Research Ability: Proficiency in conducting market research and competitive analysis.
  • Negotiation Skills: Ability to negotiate author contracts effectively.
  • Organizational Skills: Capable of managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Team Player: Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across departments.
  • Tech Savvy: Familiarity with content management systems, project tracking tools, and digital publishing platforms.
